Kia launched a brand-new crossover SUV for the 2021 model year, and it's worth considering. The sleek and stylish Seltos has a unique look that's sure to turn a few heads, along with an affordable price tag and plenty of standard equipment.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2021 Kia Seltos is available in five excellent trim levels: the LX, S, S Turbo, EX, and SX Turbo. Exterior conveniences on the base LX trim include a set of 17-inch alloy wheels, tinted rear glass, front and rear skid plates, power side mirrors, a rear spoiler, black window surrounds, and automatic projector-beam headlights.
Moving up to the S trim adds heated side mirrors with LED turn signal indicators, roof rails, chrome window surrounds, LED daytime running lights and taillights, and front fog lights. This model is also available with a unique two-tone paint job. Although similar to the S, the S Turbo carries larger 18-inch wheels and a few exterior color updates. Choose the EX to get a sunroof and a black and chrome front grille. Each SX Turbo offers LED headlights and fog lights.
Engine (Power)
The base trim level is powered by a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 147 horsepower. It pairs with an intelligent variable transmission that delivers smooth, consistent shifting. Both the S Turbo and SX Turbo trims feature a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine under the hood, which combines with seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission to supply 175 horsepower. These two models also include all-wheel drive as standard.
Performance
The 2021 Kia Seltos feels sporty and is easy to maneuver in a range of driving conditions. And depending on the engine, your Seltos will feature a unique performance. For instance, the turbocharged engine delivers a little extra punch when you accelerate. But the base engine is more fuel-efficient, offering EPA-estimated 27 mpg in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. All trim levels boast responsive steering and tight suspension tuning for a more enjoyable ride.
Interior
The impressive interior of the LX previews what's to come in the advanced trim. This cabin comes equipped with quality features like cloth upholstery, a six-speaker audio system with Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, an 8-inch touch screen, Siri Eyes Free voice controls, a USB port, manual climate control, and manually adjustable front seats. The next two variants in the lineup, the S and S Turbo trims, feature simulated leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob.
Opt for the EX trim to get leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver's seat, additional USB ports, wireless device charging, and automatic climate control. At the top of the list, the SX Turbo comes standard with a premium Bose sound system, a larger 10.25-inch touch screen, navigation, and a cargo cover.
Safety Features
Every 2021 Kia Seltos has a long list of safety features, including a rearview camera, anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control, and air bags throughout the cabin. The upper four trim levels also add forward collision assist, driver attention warning, lane departure warning with lane-keep assist and lane-following assist, and high beam assist. You can also fit your Seltos with options such as adaptive cruise control and blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
