Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2021 Kia Sportage is a small SUV that sits between the Sorento, a three-row model, and the Seltos, Kia's compact crossover. It builds on the many updates that were made to the 2020 model year and comes in four trim levels. They are the LX, S, EX, and SX. Exterior features on the base LX trim include 17-inch alloy wheels, chrome accents, a rear spoiler, heated and power-folding side mirrors with integrated LED turn signal indicators, solar control glass, automatic projector-beam headlights, and fog lights.
Stepping up to the S trim brings a set of roof rails, 18-inch alloy wheels in dark gray, and upgraded lighting. The EX includes its own unique set of machine-finished 18-inch wheels, a hands-free tailgate, and keyless entry and ignition. At the top of the list, the SX Turbo features a sport-tuned suspension, 19-inch wheels, larger front brakes, black roof rails, and LED headlights.
Engine (Power)
Beneath the hood of the lower three trim levels, you'll find a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 181 horsepower. It pairs with a six-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels, although all models are available with all-wheel drive. The SX Turbo trim has its own 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, rated at 240 horsepower. It pairs with the same six-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
Drivers appreciate the handling and performance of the 2021 Kia Sportage when driving around town, as it delivers plentiful low-end torque and comfortably weighted steering. It handles well at highway and freeway speeds as well, delivering a ride that feels sporty and crisp. The brake pedal is also responsive, ensuring that you can bring the vehicle to a quick stop.
Interior
Within the cabin of the base LX trim, features include cloth upholstery, a six-speaker sound system with a USB port, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration, a split-folding and reclining second-row seat, manually adjustable front seats, and an 8-inch touch screen. The S builds off of these features, tacking on simulated leather upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and dual-zone automatic climate control. Choose the EX and your Sportage will come with glossy-black interior trim, a power-adjustable driver's seat, a leather-wrapped shift knob, heated front seats, and a rear USB port. The top SX Turbo boasts wireless device charging, a premium Harman Kardon audio system, navigation, satellite radio, a heated flat-bottom steering wheel with paddle shifters, ventilated power-adjustable front seats, and leather upholstery.
Safety Features
Every 2021 Sportage includes anti-lock brakes, a driver attention monitor, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, stability and traction control, airbags throughout the cabin, forward collision mitigation, and a rearview camera. The upper three trims also have blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, while the SX Turbo includes front and rear parking sensors and adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go functionality.
