The 2027 Kia Carnival's seating choices depend on trim, as shown below.

You can get seven seats in the entry LX or eight in the LXS without moving into the higher trims.

On the EX and SX, seven-passenger seating requires the Captain's Chairs Package paired with the Dark Edition Package. Dark Edition Package equipment includes:

• LED headlamps and LED rear combination lights
• Leather seat trim
• An 11-inch head-up display
• 12-speaker Bose audio
• A heated steering wheel
• A digital rearview mirror

The 2027 Carnival's five trims span $14,100 in MSRP at launch, with differences in equipment and, from the EX up, a choice of seating layouts.

The increases in MSRP at launch between adjacent Carnival trims are:

• LX to LXS: $2,000
• LXS to EX: $2,200
• EX to SX: $4,900
• SX to SX Prestige: $5,000

Start with the Carnival trim that offers your passenger layout, then decide which additional features you will use. Seven passengers means the LX, or an EX, SX or SX Prestige ordered with the option; eight means anything except the LX.

Choose the EX for its cabin camera, cabin intercom and Quiet Mode, especially when keeping an eye on children in the back rows is a priority.

Choose the SX for Highway Driving Assist 2 on longer highway drives, along with the Surround View Monitor and sunroof.

The SX Prestige focuses on cabin comfort. It is the only trim with optional second-row VIP lounge seats, which recline under power and include a leg extension, heating and ventilation.

Every 2027 Carnival uses the same 3.5-liter V6 with gasoline direct injection and an 8-speed automatic. The specifications below apply to all five trims.

The 2027 Kia Carnival's cargo volume ranges from 40.2 to 145.1 cubic feet on every trim.

The smaller figure is the space behind the third row with every seat occupied. The maximum is reached with the third row folded and the second row slid forward or lifted out.

The second row slides forward and back, letting you trade some legroom for cargo length without folding a seat. The second-row seats can also be removed. The third row has a 60/40 split and double recline, so you can fold one section for a long item while keeping the other available for a passenger.

Legroom and shoulder room are the same across the Carnival lineup; headroom varies by trim. Every trim has 35.6 inches of third-row legroom, so a higher trim does not buy a roomier back row.

Both the SX Prestige and SX have a standard dual power tilting and sliding sunroof and less headroom than the lower trims. The sunroof is not offered on the LX, LXS or EX.

The 2027 Carnival's towing rating depends on whether the trailer has brakes. The ratings are the same on all five trims, and each offers a factory tow hitch.

• A trailer with its own brakes: 3,500 lbs
• A trailer with no trailer brakes: 1,000 lbs

Trailer brakes raise the towing rating from 1,000 to 3,500 pounds. Check whether your camper or utility trailer has brakes of its own before comparing its weight with the Carnival's towing rating.

Every 2027 Carnival, including the LX, comes with the following core driver-assistance features:

• Forward Collision Avoidance with car, pedestrian and cyclist detection
• Blind Spot Collision Avoidance and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Avoidance
• Lane Keeping Assist and Lane Following Assist
• Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go
• Rear Occupant Alert with Ultrasonic Sensor, and Safe Exit Assist
• Driver Attention Warning, High Beam Assist and Intelligent Speed Limit Assist

Camera coverage, parking assistance and highway assistance differ between the Carnival's lower three and upper two trims:

Smart power sliding rear doors, tri-zone automatic climate control with rear controls and third-row USB ports are standard on every Carnival.

Starting with the EX, a cabin camera shows the back rows on the center screen, and a cabin intercom carries a front-seat voice through the rear speakers. Quiet Mode mutes the rear speakers so audio can play up front while passengers sleep in the back.
