2027 Kia Telluride Overview: Trims, Capability & Specs

The 2027 Telluride is a complete redesign, the first all-new Telluride since the model debuted for 2020. Kia skipped the 2026 model year and moved straight to this second generation. The biggest change is under the hood: the long-running 3.8L V6 is gone, replaced by a 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder with 274 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 49 lb-ft over the old engine.

The new Telluride is also bigger, stretching 2.3 inches longer on a wheelbase nearly 3 inches longer than before, which opens up more room in the 2nd and 3rd rows. The 2027 Telluride comes in 5 core trims: LX, S, EX, SX, and SX-Prestige. Two more designations layer on top of those: the style-focused X-Line and the off-road X-Pro. Front-wheel drive is standard on most trims, all-wheel drive is available, and the X-Pro comes standard with AWD and added off-road hardware.

Every 2027 Telluride uses the same 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, producing 274 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque through an 8-speed automatic transmission. That is 49 lb-ft more torque than the old V6, which helps with merging, passing, and towing.

Front-wheel drive is standard, all-wheel drive is available on most trims, and AWD is standard on the X-Pro. Properly equipped, the Telluride tows up to 5,000 lbs, with an available self-leveling rear suspension to help manage heavier loads. AWD models add Terrain Mode with Snow, Mud, and Sand settings.

For drivers who venture off pavement, the X-Pro is the Telluride's most capable trim. It raises ground clearance to 9.1 inches, adds wider all-terrain tires, and includes an upgraded suspension with extra travel. Standard all-wheel drive works with an Electronic Limited-Slip Differential and a multi-terrain mode to send power where traction is needed.

The X-Pro also adds standard front and rear recovery hooks and a Ground View Monitor that shows the terrain ahead of and beneath the vehicle at low speeds, paired with an off-road status screen that displays pitch, roll, and steering angle. The standard Telluride still offers available AWD with Terrain Mode for everyday weather and light trails.

Space is the Telluride's calling card. It seats 7 or 8 depending on 2nd-row configuration and offers class-leading 2nd-row legroom of 43.0 inches, along with a redesigned 2nd row that slides forward for easier 3rd-row access. Cargo room is generous, with 22.3 cubic feet behind the 3rd row, 48.7 cubic feet behind the 2nd row, and up to 89.3 cubic feet with both rows folded.

A standard folding luggage table with cupholders and a lower storage area with movable dividers add everyday flexibility. Higher trims bring available comforts like front relaxation seats with power leg rests, an Ergo Motion driver's massage seat, power-operated 2nd-row captain's chairs, and heated seats in all 3 rows.

The Telluride's dashboard is built around Kia's ccNC system. A 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay, and wireless Android Auto is standard on every trim, and higher trims add a dual 12.3-inch panoramic display that combines into nearly 30 inches of screen. The system runs over-the-air updates and Kia's AI voice assistant, started with "Hey, Kia."

Dual wireless phone chargers and 7 USB-C ports are standard, along with a Wi-Fi hotspot and an available 14-speaker Meridian premium audio system. Other available features include a 12-inch head-up display, a Full Display Digital Rearview Mirror, Digital Key 2.0, and Entertainment and Data Services with streaming when parked.

The 2027 Telluride comes with 10 standard airbags, including a new front-center airbag positioned between the driver and front passenger, built into a reinforced body structure. Kia includes 19 standard driver-assistance systems, with up to 29 available.

Standard features include Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, Blind-Spot Collision Warning, Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go, Lane Following Assist 2, and a radar-based Rear Occupant Alert for the 2nd and 3rd rows, among others. Higher trims add available Highway Driving Assist 2, a 360-degree Surround View Monitor, and a Blind-Spot View Monitor.

The 2027 Telluride starts in the high-$30Ks for the LX and ranges to the high-$50Ks for a loaded X-Pro SX-Prestige, before destination, taxes, and fees.
