Your car AC not working is a problem that needs to be fixed ASAP, especially when hot summer days roll around. In Butler, PA, your friendly Kia dealer can have your AC working perfectly again in no time. These are some signs that we need to fix your AC.

Your AC Is Noisy

An AC shouldn’t make any noise except for the slight click of the compressor switching on and off. Rustling, clunking, screeching, or other noises are all signs of AC problems. The issue could be as simple as leaves or dirt drawn into the AC and rattling around inside the ducts. Other possible causes are a worn compressor, leaking seals, or damaged parts.

The compressor is the heart of your AC system and needs regular services to keep it working effectively. If the compressor isn’t serviced, it can develop problems like worn bearings and refrigerant leaks, or the compressor clutch could fail. Our technicians are experts at diagnosing problems, and we’ll swiftly find and fix the cause of the noise.

Your AC Only Blows at One Speed

The dial on your dash allows you to control the airflow speed. If you’re trying to adjust the dial and you only get one speed, your AC has a problem. The usual cause of this problem is a faulty resistor block, worn connectors, or a damaged switch. If the switch for the blower motor is damaged, it may be stuck at one setting. This prevents the motor from adjusting to the speed you select.

The blower motor has a resistor block, a simple component that enables the blower to vary its speed based on the dial setting. The resistor contains metal coils that generate large amounts of heat as it operates. The constant high temperature of over 325 F can eventually cause the resistor to burn out. If the resistor fails, the AC will jam at one speed until the resistor is replaced.

Your AC Smells Bad

The air that blows from the AC shouldn’t have any smell. If you’re breathing a foul odor from the AC, your AC is infested with mold or bacteria. Mold spores and bacteria can be found in the air drawn into your AC. These organisms both thrive in damp, dark spaces that have moisture.

We can easily remove the nasty smell by feeding an anti-mold and anti-bacterial cleaning solution into the AC. We then switch on the AC and let the solution do its work. This cleaning will remove all traces of mold or bacteria, and your AC will smell as fresh as a daisy again.
