Every new Kia has a warranty period of 10 years or 100,000 miles. The 10-year factory warranty includes limited coverage for the powertrain, a five-year basic limited warranty, a five-year anti-perforation warranty, and a five-year roadside assistance plan. In addition to these generous new car warranties, you may want to consider purchasing an extended warranty from your Kia dealer.

Kia offers five levels of extended coverage, each of which can last for up to 120,000 miles. The Powertrain plan is the most basic level of coverage for the transmission, drive axle, and engine. The Silver plan adds protection for steering, front suspension, brakes, and electrical vehicle components. The Gold plan offers the most comprehensive coverage for all the vehicle components covered under the Silver plan.

The Gold Plus plan builds on the Gold plan by covering the rear suspension, fuel system, air conditioning, and cooling system. The highest tier plan is the Platinum plan, which is essentially an extension of the bumper-to-bumper factory warranty.

What Isn’t Covered?

Damage from the environment or improper maintenance is not covered by any of these warranty plans. Other exclusions include wear and tear on parts like filters and batteries, as well as the cost of routine maintenance for services like tire rotations. These warranties will not cover airbags, body parts, tires, wheels, lightbulbs, upholstery, brake pads, and a few other vehicle components.

What Are Additional Perks?

Each of the Kia extended protection plans includes perks like towing coverage, travel coverage, fluids coverage, and rental car reimbursement. These perks can save you some money if your Kia has unexpected mechanical issues, especially if you’re traveling away from home or your Kia needs to be repaired at the dealership for several days.

Do You Have to Have a CPO Kia?

To qualify for one of these extended vehicle protection plans, you may have to own an eligible used Kia. Your dealership can help you determine your eligibility for any extended coverage plan, whether you have a used or certified pre-owned Kia.
