Driving is a lot more fun when you’re in a well-maintained vehicle. Sticking to a regular schedule of car maintenance will also save you money at the gas pump and stave off more costly repairs down the line. And when you’re working with your local Kia dealer, keeping your vehicle in top condition is easy.

1. Watch for Puddles Under Your Car

If you consistently notice puddles of fluid beneath your vehicle after it’s been parked, that may be a sign that fluids are leaking. Your Kia relies on important fluids to keep the engine cool, lubricated, and functioning at its peak. Transmission fluid, coolant, power steering fluid, brake fluid, and motor oil are all essential to keeping the systems in your vehicle functioning. If you spot signs that any of these may be leaking, it’s time to book a service appointment.

2. Stick With the Recommended Service Schedule

When it comes to vehicle maintenance, there’s no need to reinvent the wheel. The owner’s manual that came with your vehicle includes a recommended service schedule. Most Kias need to be serviced every 10,000 miles, or at least once a year. Sticking with the recommended service schedule is the easiest and surest way to maintain your vehicle.

3. Keep the Vehicle Clean

Washing and waxing your vehicle at regular intervals will protect the paint job and minimize the effect of weather conditions. It will also give you a chance to spot and fix little nicks and scratches before rust has a chance to set in.

4. Regularly Inspect Your Tires

Walk around your vehicle every week or so and give your tires a quick inspection. Make sure your tires aren’t over or underinflated, and look for signs of damage and wear, like bulges, cracks, and thin tread. The tires serve as a foundation for the entire vehicle, and if they’re overly worn, not properly inflated, or out of alignment, it can stress the brakes, suspension system, and other components of the car.

It’s also important to routinely rotate the position of your tires on the vehicle. Our service department will take care of this each time your vehicle is in for an oil change.

5. Pay Attention to Your Vehicle’s Warning Lights

Seeing a warning light on your dashboard is not always a sign that something serious is wrong. It may simply mean that your vehicle is due for service, or that you’re low on gasoline. But if you see a light, it’s a good idea to respond to it and schedule an appointment to have things checked out.

Following a regular maintenance schedule will ensure your vehicle is safe, reliable, and fuel-efficient. When you’re ready to schedule your next service appointment, call Mike Kelly Kia.
