Whether you prefer to camp in an RV, a cabin with comfort and full amenities, or you prefer to pitch your tent under the stars, you’ll be sure to find the perfect camping spot at one of the campgrounds near Butler, PA listed here.

1. Buttercup Woodlands Campground

This family-owned campground is located to the west of Butler and offers over 300 sites that are perfect for a family stay. While you’re there, you can enjoy the many recreational opportunities, including a pool, playground, and basketball and volleyball courts. During the summer, various activities are organized that include live entertainment, bingo, and dances.

All the campsites are provided with a picnic table and a fire ring, and full hookups that include water and electricity, and pull-through sites are available. Two restroom and shower facilities are available, located throughout the park, but never more than a short walk away. In addition, a coin-operated laundry is available, with soup available from the campsite store.

2. Bear Run Campground

Bear Run Campground is one of several privately-owned campgrounds near Moraine State Park, where it’s currently not possible to camp. However, Bear Run is a great place to base yourself when visiting the park, which is a popular spot for fishing, boating, and kayaking due to its large central lake, as well as miles of hiking and equestrian trails onshore. Though you’d never know these days, the entire area was once a huge mineral extraction site, now returned to nature.

The campground itself has hundreds of sites to choose from that range from primitive, walk-in tent sites to large RV lots with full electrical and water hookups. Toilet and shower facilities are dotted around the site, and sewer hookups and sanitary dump stations are available for RVs. In addition to the campsite, there are also lots of activities to enjoy, from swimming in the heated pool to fishing in the campground fishing pond, which is stocked with trout.

3. Breakneck Campground

As well as offering an alternative for those wishing to visit Moraine State Park and Lake Arthur, Breakneck Campground is also very close to another state park, McConnell’s Mill, which features the spectacular Slippery Rock Creek Gorge. Wherever you decide to go, there are lots of opportunities for paddling, biking and fishing, and even rock climbing!

Campsites at Breakneck offer something for everyone, whether from primitive tent sites all the way to fully enclosed cabins. Some of the unique sites include scenic decks and a hut that overlooks the gorge itself. However, there aren’t any spaces for RVs here, although the primitive campsites are still supplied with picnic tables and fire rings.

These sites are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the campsites nearby, so get out there and you’ll be sure to discover more. Need a new vehicle to take you and your family on your next adventure? Then head on down to Mike Kelly Kia today, and we’ll be happy to help you out.
